Dr Hallinger’s talk on „Gastrointestinal Parasites in Tortoises“ for the Starregruppe

At the 76th livechat in the Starregruppe on 10 July 2026, Dr med. vet. Malek Hallinger, managing director and laboratory head of the specialist laboratory Exomed, gave a well-informed, practical overview of gastrointestinal parasites in tortoises.

What does a stool test result actually tell you? Which parasites turn up most often? When is a worming treatment worthwhile – and why doesn’t a microscopic finding automatically mean a health emergency?

The slides and the keeper’s handout from the talk are now also available on TASCHENDINOS and can be viewed or downloaded below (both in German).

Many thanks to Dr Hallinger, who kindly made these materials available for publication.
