Identifying Poisonous Plants – Avoiding Risks of Poisoning

Coming soon!
The new Poisonous Plants Handbook from the series on the Modern Husbandry of European Tortoises is primarily designed to help beginners in tortoise keeping safely identify toxic and potentially dangerous plants in the enclosure and while foraging. Clear plant profiles, numerous illustrations, and concise information support the inspection of enclosures, gardens, planters, and greenhouses. Despite the extensive number of plant profiles, the mini-format conveniently fits into a trouser pocket. The book comprises 152 pages and is equipped with a spiral binding to make turning pages easier.
The handy Taschendinos field guides: particularly well-suited for beginners who are starting to build an enclosure and collect forage.
Charity Project in Aid of Schildkroetensuche.org
As with previous TASCHENDINOS books, all proceeds will go entirely towards the preservation and operation of the voluntary platform Schildkroetensuche.org.
This compact Taschendinos mini field guide is easy to take along when collecting forage: A descriptive picture on one page……is always complemented by a description on the opposite page.
Practical Tip for Beginners
Before starting to collect and cultivate forage plants, the most important poisonous plants should first be known with absolute certainty. This knowledge significantly increases safety levels, as problematic plants can be deliberately excluded right at the foraging stage.
In the next step, knowledge about suitable forage plants can be expanded gradually. Anyone who reliably recognises both typical poisonous plants and safe forage plants can differentiate much better and avoids offering unknown or dangerous plants.
The basic rule is: Nothing is fed that has not been clearly identified and could potentially be dangerous.

The Refrigerator Brumation Handbook .
The Handbook is aimed at beginners as well as experienced tortoise keepers who want to conduct the brumation safely, controllably, and in a contemporary manner. It explains step by step the preparation, execution, and monitoring of refrigerator hibernation, covers technology, temperature management, and safety aspects, and helps to avoid typical mistakes and risks. In doing so, the method is classified as a practical addition to near-natural husbandry – objective, comprehensible, and practical. It is complemented by an overview of the parameters required for species-appropriate husbandry, and detailed instructions on reducing temperatures and, last but not least, a stress-free awakening into warm husbandry conditions. It also describes in detail what to watch out for after hibernation to ensure a consistently high level of safety for the tortoises.
